The Washington Alliance for School Health Care is an advocacy organization committed to advancing health care access in schools and helping ensure the health and academic success of children and youth statewide. Washington’s children and youth are suffering the devastating physical, mental and social impacts of a health care crisis. Thousands in every community lack access to quality, affordable and preventive health care. The Washington Alliance for School Health Care provides strong leadership in the school-based health care movement through its efforts to build and sustain local, statewide and national support.

New 2013 SBHC Funding Opportunity

The Washington Alliance for School Health Care is seeking applicants for a new project called Hallways to Health. One SBHC from Washington State will be selected to participate in this project, led by the National Assembly on School-Based Health Care as part of a national, multi-state campaign with Kaiser Permanente known as Thriving Schools. Thriving Schools aims to have students, staff, and teachers focus on making healthy choices. The multi-year Hallways to Health grant will expand the role that SBHCs play in advancing obesity prevention, social and emotional health, and school employee wellness.

Selected SBHCs will be recognized nationally for their participation. Each SBHC partner will receive $45,000 per year for two years, starting May 1, 2013. Applications are due to the Alliance on April 24, 2013. Download the RFP here.
